Virtually everyone in America has heard of the saga regarding Robert Polanski. I bet that many Americans before this incident, did not even know who Robert Polanski was! But what is all the hype about?

To cut to the chase, I think that Robert Polanski should be tried. For one, at the time he allegedly committed the crime, he was not a baby. He was 44, a middle aged man. He should know that having sex with a 13 year old girl was wrong and should pay the price should he be found guilty.

He also has been acting very suspiciously, running away from the Feds for 31 years. If he was not guilty, he should just stand trial and be proven innocent. By evading arrest, it makes him seem like a fugitive?

I also do not buy the defense of his actions and plea for leniency on grounds that the charges took place a long time ago. Just like Nazi actions that took place a long time ago should not be forgiven, neither should cold cases. This is particularly so in the case of rape and murder.

But my question is this : Why should we even give a damn? Is this really such big news that it be the talking point for America? Come on! ALL media outlets have made this straight forward thing into a freaking media circus. Please lets go back to real news!

Do you know how many Americans know about Samoa being flattened by a tsunami? How many Americans know about the huge typhoon that hit Philippines and Vietnam causing hundreds of death? How many Americans know about Indonesia having a strong quake that has killed thousands? But Roman Polanski’s arrest seem to be the major issue for media outlets!

This again goes to show the sheer lack of judgment on the parts of the news agencies in America. The Press is supposed to be the forth pillar of democracy in our country. But the negative aspects of the free market bites the facts out of it. I am not saying that there should be any changes to how it is run, because it is always better to have a private press rather than a government run propaganda machine.

Lastly, lets say Roman Polanski’s is found guilty or innocent, how does it affect us? Is it like health care or illegal immigration that is an American concern? And lastly, why is it only us that is making that point?
