Palin vs Family guy == Stupid America?
I really cannot believe that this is what America is talking about after so many days! This really makes me wonder whether our troops are defending a retarded nation! Come on! A joke and a media-whore and people love to talk about it!
For those media-retarded, or those living in a hole somewhere, this is a recap. There is an episode of the FOX TV cartoon, The Family Guy where a teenage character in that show dates a girl who has Down’s Syndrome and when asked what her parents do, she says : “My dad’s an accountant, and my mom is the former (G)overnor of Alaska.” Governor Palin then spurned a fake outcry on FOX News claiming that this was poking fun at her child in some way…
Well lets see. You have a 2 year old toddler, the cartoon character was a teenager. Your toddler is a boy, the cartoon character is a girl. Your toddler is real, all flesh and blood. That girl was a cartoon character on Family Guy. Has she ever watched the Family Guy? Come on! ( I can’t believe I am writing this down in a POLITICAL commentary.)
And anyhow, how is this joke making fun of the child? If anything, it was a lame joke aimed at Governor Palin! It is not at all aimed at her child! There was no way it was anyhow connected to the child! Also, the person that was playing the child was also special with Down’s Syndrome. The Family Guy should be applauded for hiring that artiste, rather than being bashed by Governor Palin.
How many times is this drama queen going to stop pimping her kids for spotlight? She did it the first time with David Letterman, she did it with Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel for using the word retarded on Democrats but forgives Rush Limbaugh for using it all the time and now this. Hey Governor Palin, you kid is special, you are retarded.
Why the hell can’t see through this fake outrage? Why is it that we are talking about this stupid even that would not affect our lives and not about the Governors meeting with the President or the President’s proposed health care bill? Why? Are we all getting excited over small events and not the big ones?
It is partially our failure in giving attention to something that Senator McCain picked Governor Palin who had accomplished nothing, over Meg Whitman who made E-bay what it is today. Because he knew that we would watch Governor Palin and Meg Whitman would bore the heck out of us!
We are so interested in gossip and nonsense like the President swatting a fly rather than reading bills that is available to us. Maybe that is why politicians always claim that they do not have time to read bills when given overnight, because they know that their constituents are not going to read it. Only people like us do, and we know that it can be done in a day!
Wake up America. Please! Do not throw your country away with your ignorance. Do not buy emotions and controversies, look at the facts! Stop watching Olbermann and Beck and watch CSPAN! Please, for the sake of your country, please stop being stupid!
Pay as you go… the catch is?
President Obama made an announcement that the Pay As You Go mentality is back. However, I urge my viewers not to be caught up by this. The reason is this: the major areas that contribute to our deficits like Defense, Social Security and Health care is exempted.
President Obama : “ This year I have proposed another $20 billion worth of budget cuts. I have also called for a freeze in government spending in 3 years. It won’t affect benefits through Medicare, Medicaid or Social security.”
The vast, vast majority of spending every year are on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Defense and National security. They amount to nearly 2/3 of our spending. And of these, President Obama is not going to touch and bother about.
We can carry on giving out more and more Social Security benefits but not pay for it. We can carry on having vast defense plans but we may not pay for it. We can carry on the rot of a health care system that we have, but we can carry on giving benefits, paying for the uninsured…
Why? The reason is that to pull this off, President Obama would be taking a very large gamble. For example, he needs to ram a healthcare bill through Congress with a cost controlling measure. But he failed so miserably in that. His party and negotiated away the only measure that both parties could come up with that controls cost, the public option.
He can put Social Security in the green, that is we earn from Social Security taxes, by making the rich pay as much as us. But he won’t. People like Rush Limbaugh and Jay Leno can cap their Social Security by working 2 days and they do not have to pay it for life. Make them pay it like us, and we would not have a problem with Social Security for the next 70 years!
We can compromise on things like education, infrastructure and NASA, but we would not be bothered to do anything about Defense? Why? Because President Obama does not want to start a political battle with the Republicans and be labeled as the guy that is not supporting our troops.
To sum it all up, President Obama does not have the balls to carry out real budgetary reforms. It is really that simple. He can do it instantly, but he does not have the fight to do it. All talk of change we can believe in, new-age politics and so on. Now was the time for him to prove it. But he did not. He has proven to be a spineless Democrat more than anything else.
When are we going to have a real leader in America? The last we had was JFK in 1960s. I am not saying that President Clinton did not do a good job, but he has been part of rotting away of our governance since President Carter in 1976.
When are we going to have people like Governor Jesse Ventura, General Colin Powell or Governor Howard Dean? And it is not as though people are not frustrated with politics as it is. There are many people who support Representative Ron Paul that also supports Representative Dennis Kucinich even though they are on the opposite ends of thought. This is because they would support people who are sincere rather than natural politicians.
I really hope that our political system get a jolt. Our country really needs it, not nutty Tea Parties.
Carrie Prajean utter lack of respect!
I have never really gotten down hard on Carrie Prajean. I always felt that she was just a media whore, someone like Levi Johnston, who is doing anything for media attention. But after her treatment of Larry King, I think it is time to give her a tongue slashing usually reserved for older hosts.
I do not like the manner that she answered her question, but then I would have disqualified half the women based on the manner the answered their questions. So, yes I am not an expert! Politics is my field, not beauty pageants.
Then she went about opening her mouth saying that she was doing it for God and so on and so forth. She became the darling of the far right. Of course there are the instances of her topless photographs and her masturbation videos, okay. I would not be surprised if it was Carrie Prajean herself that exposed all these leaks to stay in the media. Hey, there is no such thing as bad publicity right.
I always put her as a person that was crying for attention. I put her in the same category as Levi Johnston who is doing the same thing by posing nude for playgirl and throwing dirt at Governor Sarah Palin. They are just attention seeking whores to me.
This incident changed everything. In political commentary, there are many people who could be considered bigots, rude, obnoxious, terrible. These can be from the left like Keith Olbermann, Bill Maher and Rachael Maddow, from the right like Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck or Bill O Reilly or even independents like Governor Ventura, Presidential Candidate Ralph Nader or the people here at ST.
But nobody disses CNN’s Larry King. Anybody would tell you that he is a very soft-ball host. He has been doing this for so many years and I never heard of anybody being pissed off with Larry King. Even people like Bill O Reilly and Rush Limbaugh do not mind him. I am shocked at the manner that she treated Larry King. It is disgraceful.
She began by saying how she is “Palinized” by the far-left media like Keith Olbermann. Okay, that is a fair point. He is really a jacka**. But is there really a double standard as she suggests? Would right-wingers be forced out of the air because of mean words?
Rush Limbaugh supported (supports?) the apartheid government is South Africa in the 90s, he is still on the air. Glenn Beck called President Obama a racist for no damn reason, he is still on the air. Michael Savage in on the air despite his outright racist remarks against Latinos. Governor Sarah Palin is still on the air despite claiming that our President pals with terrorists. So, the idea of there being a double standard is really ridiculous.
Larry King then went to the point where she agreed to settle for some lawsuits that she made. He did not ask what the settlement was, he asked why. Why did she settle? It is a fair question. It is nothing intrusive. Even then he went on for just 30 seconds.
“So you can even say why you settled? I am not asking for what is in the agreement? … So the agreement discusses why each party agreed to settle?” That was basically all Larry King asked! That was it! It was not a tough one. She could have answered that she was tired of everything and wanted it to end quickly etc. Those kinds of excuses are okay, but you can’t tell why you settled?
Because of that, she gave Larry King the ultimate disrespect by taking off her microphone while a viewer was asking her a question. If I were Larry King, I would have freaking exploded. Try doing that to other hosts like Bill O Reilly, Geraldo Riviera, Ann Coulter, Olbermann and see what the reaction would be.
I also hope there was a person she was talking to in the room, because if she was talking to herself, she would really need psychiatric help!

Sarah Palin latest conspiracy
Former Alaskan Governor, Sarah is back. And her latest controversy, the latest controversy regarding President Obama administration is…. He moved the phrase, “In God we trust” from the front of the one dollar coin to the side of the coin!. Stupid, nonsensical, and not true but a genius that it got people talking about this rather than the talking points of recent Democratic gains.
Seriously, this is exactly the kind of person that I as an Independent want to suppress. In the midst of a war in Afghanistan, economy that is coming up without the jobs, global warming, Islamic terrorism in our own backyards, etc… And she want to talk about what is being written on the $1 coin!
Even if it is all a big deal which is not at all, it is not true. This coin change did not happen under President Obama’s Presidency, it happened in 2005! It happened under President George Bush (43)! Come on! Secondly, lets replace God in that sentence and change the phrase to “In America we trust!” That is more American and more worth fighting for!
This lady is pure venom for our country. She is dividing it with her lies. That is my main problem with her. She has no substance, just hateful rhetoric. She knows nothing about running the state. Alaska has the most resources vs population in that country and even that she screwed it up. Alaska is however, in the red. She just knows hate in her puritan stance. The manner she purged Diedre Scozzafava, she could purge anyone else next!
I knew it the moment she said that then-Senator Obama is palling around with terrorists. Democrats are too weak and dumb, but independents like me would have shot back, “Yes, and you are sleeping with a separatist!” That lady is nothing but poison.
She may not know anything about running a country or about being nice, but she sure does know how to play politics. She paints herself as the victim all the damn time, think David Letterman saga, and then portrays herself as a fighter. She is the darling of far right like Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh etc.
She has got the far-right on her finger-tips. She says Dede Scozzafava has to go, and boom she is gone. Governor Charlie Crist of Florida would not be in trouble till she says so, so what do you think he is going to do?
So how does she get to become the truly powerful force of the far right, with moves like this. She makes up a controversy that is not there and pits herself in the righteous horse. The far right are already considering this coin fiasco another act of heroism for their movement.
That is where she is smarter than the Democrats. They can control the white house and the congress and have the majority of the gubernatorial seats, but they are still wimps. They are still in nursery when it comes to playing politics bar a few, while people like Governor Palin have already graduated.
That is what makes her so bloody dangerous. She has everything for her, her looks, weak opponents, etc. And she can single-handedly bring America in the wrong direction…. at best.
