Palin’s shameful I told you so

We mentioned it in the last few articles, now hear it from the serpent’s mouth. Former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin would let all her followers on Facebook know what she really feels and the venom that she spits on former Republican challenger Dede Scozzafava.

Here is the quote from her Facebook page : “Unfortunately, the Republican Party today has decided to choose a candidate who more than blurs the lines, and there is no real difference between the Democrat and the Republican in this race. Scozzafava’s backing of the Democrat proves (Governor) Sarah (Palin) was right. Scozzafava isnt a Republican.”

Do you guys what she is saying? Governor Palin does not like the moderate positions of Ms Scozzafava at all. What policies of Ms Scozzafava’s policy does she not like? Financially, she is just about the same as Doug Hoffman. She does not like the socially liberal views of Ms. Scozzafava. She does not like the fact that Ms. Scozzafava is pro choice. She does not like it that Ms. Scozzafava favors gay marriage and that she does not think that homosexuality should be a federal crime.

These are all the things that make her say right now, “Hey I told you so. See, that lady is not a Republicans.” And boom she is out! It is literally tearing apart the big tent that President Reagan set up for the Republican Party. Dissent is no longer allowed.

That is why I am very disturbed. This is literally purging of different ideas. You do not like this list of requirements, you are not part of the Republican Party. I really do not like that. This is what make dictatorships. This is what dictators like Adolf Hitler and Saddam Hussein did. You do not follow this, this, this; you get out of the Republican Party.

If they can do that to people within their own party, how about us? I am an Independent. I am pro choice, would they consider me an enemy of the state? Not a real American? There are already many out there that think that America was built by Republican / Conservative values!

Can you imagine if the left wing did this? I am for our involvement in Afghanistan till the Taliban is eliminated. Can you imagine if the left come up and say that people like me who think differently are enemies of America? Can you imagine if they said that people who think like me are cold blooded murderers because I am for the death penalty? That is why I am so piss off about this right now.

I am really angry that they really do not like it when a Republican back a Democrat. Were they complaining last year when the Independent Senator Joe Liebermann endorsed Senator John McCain? Why can’t they see just Americans rather than Republicans and Democrats?

These crazy Republicans have crossed the line. I am not against all Republicans. I like people like General Colin Powell, Senator Chuck Hagel, Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson etc. I am against the far right nuts that really could drag our country to hell.

Enough is enough! We do not need people to tell us what to think and what not to think! I think it is high time that we start purging them back for a change!

Liberals to lose, Republicans to Rise.

Mark my words: The Republicans would sweep into power in the House and / or Senate by 2014. I guarantee that! You may hear many other “pundits” in the radio, television and the Internet that the Republican Party is going to be a dying brand. I am pitting my words directly against theirs. Here are my reasons.

1)Liberals cannot see the threat that is staring in their faces.

The story of the tortoise and the hare is one that people never seen to forget but, at the same time, never seem to learn from. Yes, the Democrats made huge strides last year. But the fact is that, the reason for their shift in momentum was due to the charisma that President Obama had in 2008 and the economic collapse. The chips was all in their favor; then.

The politically-dim Democrats, however, thought it was because of poisonous characters like Governor Sarah Palin that had been rejected by the populace. To them, the Republican party has fallen. Them, referring to most of the hosts of MSNBC, “strategists” like James Carville and Radio show hosts like Cenk Uyghur of the Young Turks. President Reagan’s big tent may have collapsed, but his winning formula is still around. The biggest reason that the Republican Tortoise is going to cross the line is because the Democratic hare is sleeping.

2)Movement and superior grassroots organization of the right wing.

Examples of right-wing movements are the talk radio shows, FOX News Channel, in the net, and print media that are obviously on the right wing but declare themselves as Independent and unbiased. The liberals have no answer but the wrong answers to check these right-wing movements.

The second is the grassroots organization. Examples of these are Tea Party movements and churches. I find it eerily powerful that Churches have the power to stop a law in California and are now being approached for help to stop health care reform. The Tea Party movement just highlights how bad the management of handling the Tea Party protests were by the Democrats. 75000 protested against President Obama on 9/12, while 80 000 protested less than a month later for gay rights. See the difference in media coverage? Again, that is down to grassroots organization, that the Democrats lack.

3)Right Wing money.

The far right fights for tax cuts for the corporations, the incorporation of flat taxes, privatizing Social Security and Medicare, etc. These are all things that are favorable to the big companies. The only group of companies that are on the usually left leaning are the tech companies.

Whilst the Democrat can count on the loony left wing unions, their base does not have the guaranteed cash flow that the right wing has. In this way, I think that the Republican National Committee would always have more money than the DNC. Money buys airtime, ads and also personal visitations. This also an area that President Obama did very well last year, but the Democrats were not as successful as they should be.

4)Lack of defense for President Obama.

Liberals also do not know how to protect one another. When Van Jones was all but forced to resign over the silliest of issues, no left wingers stood up to defend them. When ACORN is being attacked, they never stood up. Public Option was torn apart and shredded and the Democrats do nothing. With this weakness, the President is left exposed and it would be a matter of when not, if, to disregard his credibility.

Seriously, when would the Liberals learn? Since the Liberals never learn, why aren’t people supporting the Independents? To me that is the biggest mystery.

Moore vs Hannity

You guys know how I feel about the right and the left in our country. And not many can be more wing-nuts like Michael Moore and Sean Hannity. Boy couldn’t you tell the awkwardness when both of them were on the air. The interview basically went as follows!

First, it was something about a stupid bet. It shows the lack of intellect in the part of Moore and perhaps why the Democrats are usual losers! He actually made a bet with Sean Hannity that former President Bush would be forced out of office! Hey Michael, you need a spine for that and the Democrats do not have any!

Next came some religious mambo-jambo, you know the “I am more Christian than you” kind of talk. Sean Hannity then went to the most obvious flaw that Michael Moore have in his rage with capitalism; he made millions because of it! He even had the cheek to claim that he could trash the system in Cuba and Fidel Castro would do nothing! What a joke! The hypocrisy was obvious! 2-0 to Hannity.

Sean Hannity then claims that it was right for the US to attack Iraq and the Israelis and other intelligence services were showing proof of WMDs. Hey Sean, do you think the Israelis would have sat down and have done nothing if Saddam had nukes? 6 million Jews died in world war 2, you think they would make the same mistake with allowing Saddam nukes? No way. Hannity was dead wrong.

He went back putting the blame on President Clinton, and tried to say that it was not President Bush’s fault. We in Slashing Tongue mentioned in our 9/11 episode that both these Presidents along with President Carter and President Reagan were at fault too. 2-1 TO Hannity.

And Sean Hannity also went down the path of stupidity that he thinks that there are millions of people that want to attack America due to religious fanaticism. Wow!Again stocking the flames of hatred. Yes, the Middle East is screwed up, yes. But does that mean that there are literally millions of people out there to destroy America? No! Come on! 2-2 tie.

The next topic was about whether home owners were responsible for the collapse on the financial system. On this, Michael Moore is right. They had very little to do with the collapse. It was the system. It was when bonds were pressured to be rated AAA so easily and other ridiculous laws. It was not the Community Investment Act at all. Other countries have similar bills, why didn’t their housing sector go bust? 3-2 to Michael Moore.

Micheal Moore secured his “win” in the closing minutes when he said that we do not make things anymore and Sean Hannity disagrees. Every economists agree that the biggest problem with the American economy is that we do not manufacture enough here! That is a fact. Be it Peter Schiff or Paul Krugman, economists want America to start making things again. How? That is what make them right wing or left wing. It is the tactic that they differ on, not the destination.

So Michael Moore won , this time. But that does not mean that I appreciate his views at all. For what is wrong with Michael Moore’s movie, please read our older articles on why Michael Moore is wrong!

5 most important lessons to take from 9/11

It was a tragedy that took the world by storm. It changed the world, some for the better and some for the worse. About 3000 families lost their loves ones. What is most important is that we learn from the mistakes we made earlier.

Blame can be traced back all the way to President Jimmy Carter from whom we learned our first lessons. He began giving aid to Afghanistan to fight the Soviets in 1979. Lesson #1 : Before we help one side of the battle against the other, we should verify that the guys we are helping out are the good guys. It does not mean that the side fighting the bad guys are the good guys.

The “B’nai Mitzvah” of these terrorists however, happened in the reign of President Ronald Reagan. It was during his reign that the war, and American involvement, greatly expanded. America was supplying money for weapons. He also called them “brave freedom fighters”.

More frighteningly, with American money, Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence Agency (ISI), their CIA started training and radicalizing people like Osama bin Laden. Pakistan itself was governed by a religious nut, General Zia-ul-Haq. War became a Jihad and the Afghan resistance army became the Mujahideen.. Lesson #2; “Never radicalize, or pay for the radicalization of anyone into any religion, no matter how good their cause seem to be.” At this stage, President Reagan’s administration basically trained and handed the gun over to Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda.

President Clinton was also offered Osama bin Laden 5 times on a plate. However, he did not want to take the offer as he did want to take part with a government that was involved with people like the #1 terrorist then, Carlos the Jackal. He did not want to be known as the President’s who was negotiating with “monsters.” Lesson #3; If you are given a terrorist on a plate by anyone, take it. At this point, President Clinton let Osama go when we had a chance to get him.

President Bush (43) was given the intelligence that there would be people that would be hijacking planes soon. Yes there was a miscalculation by the CIA that they would be able to get the plane on the ground and storm the plane. However, should there be any threat on anybody, the President should have taken action to prevent it. Lesson #4; Take threats seriously. President Bush could have stopped Osama and AlQaeda but did nothing.

After the attacks happened, we should learn the biggest lesson of all. Some people acted out of fear and took laws into their own hands. A Sikh named Balbir Singh Sodhi was shot dead in his store in revenge attacks for 9/11. Many people of South Asian and Middle Eastern descent were harassed for the color of their skin. Why? Because, we were scared!

Our government acted out of fear when we got people to Guantanamo Bay and tortured / enhanced interrogated people. Our government acted out of fear when we attacked another country based on what we got from torture/ EITs. Lesson #5 : Always go with the head, never out of fear.
There may be many other lessons that we should take back. Like how we go about securing our airports. We are still lacking in many departments. For example, many Federal buildings are poorly secured. Lastly, the team at ST would like to offer our condolences to all victims of 9/11.

Brad Pitt for Mayor?

NEW ORLEANS - DECEMBER 03: Actress Angelina J...
Image by Getty Images via Daylife

You read the headline right! Professor Thomas Bayer of Tulane University is actually propagating the idea that Brad Pitt be Mayor of New Orleans! Shirts are already being sold and the movement is gaining steam!

I really could not believe it when I read this the first time. I dismissed it in the first few articles but now it is being reported in CNN. So there must be some truth to it. I just made fun of Minnesota, I guess I owe them an apology. Celebrity mania is affecting all areas of America!

Fame seems to be becoming a new religion in America. Can we blame President Reagan for this? I do not think so, but he is a catalyst. Even President Reagan is treated as a deity in the Republican party. Every Republican want to be like him. President Eisenhower achieved much more than President Reagan had (watch the Republicans go ballistic) but would never be mentioned in the same breath at all.

Isn’t is sad? In what way is Brad Pitt qualified to become a Mayor or a politician? What has he done in public service? I would be honest and say that I do not know much about what he has done for the 9th ward, so that is a bit harsh on my part; But the number of people that want him just because he is an actor is just too many to ignore. What experience does he have that would make him good for the job? What are his views?

In that argument I think that his wife, the gorgeous Angelina Jolie, is more accomplished than him. She does a lot of public service and we know many of her views. And after all this Sanford saga, are we going to evict “black mark” Brad Pitt because he cheated on Jennifer Aniston?

Professor Bayer mentioned that he is doing this because he admires what Brad Pitt has done for New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. To be fair, his humor piece for why Brad Pitt should be Mayor is absolutely hilarious. Read it at http://www.storyvilletimes.com/2009/05/brad-pitt-for-mayor.php

It is not the fact that the is a movie star that disqualifies him. I just feel that it is sad that Americans want him to be a Mayor just because he is a movie star. Lets vet him. Lets see what he says. We have not seen anything from him yet and already people want him to be their Mayor. That sucks.

This so similar to people wanting Fran Drescher to be a Senator from New York. Can you imagine her nasal voice in the Senate? We would like to hear Representative Barney Frank’s voice when she comes, I am sure. (Of course I am kidding guys!)

The one thing I agree is that Angelina Jolie would make one hot first lady! Hell, the Mayor of New Orleans could be anybody; but the first lady should be Angelina Jolie!
