Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is now being bombarded with attacks from the Republicans on his comment “linking” slavery and the health care bill. What I would like to see, is the mettle of the Leader of the Democrats in the Senate, a good indicator for the future.

This is the exact phrase he used. “When this country belatedly recognized the wrongs of slavery, there were those who dug in their heels and said slow down, it’s too early, let’s wait, things aren’t bad enough.” Now this phrase has brought about a tirade of Republican opposition to it. RNC Chairman Michael Steele has demanded an apology. Others have gone down a path of bashing, with even CNN’s David Gergen, one of television’s most respected pundits, slamming this statement.

This exposes a media double standard. When Republicans do something rough, everybody expects it to be so. When Republicans say that this Health care deal would pull the plug out of grandma, everybody was okay with it. When Governor Sarah Palin and company still has the cheek to come out and question the citizenship of President Obama, it is okay.

But when Leader Reid comes about and say that delaying health care reform is the same as delaying the abolishment of slavery, it becomes a big deal. I think this saga, along with the fact that the Tea Baggers who represent 5%pf our population gets a ton more coverage than the Public Option which is supported by 60% of the population; should shut the Conservative myth of a liberal media up.

Now, I am an Independent. I am a person that would love to see the discussion being about substance and details. I would prefer to see the discussion being set in Maine where it is more sane rather than the backdrop of the rest of the country.

But that is not how American politics work. If there are drawbacks of having a democratic system, this is it. Of course it is also fun to watch! It is the reason we are doing sites like this, to showcase our point of view in a sea of mess.

In this case, it is very interesting to see how Leader Reid is going to react to the barrage of Republican criticism. So far, he has stuck to his statement, but appear to be hushing it. This to me is the significance of Democratic weakness. Democrats shy away from a fight, Republicans take it up by its horns no matter how stupid it sounds.

To save his election next year, this is what he should do. Focus the media attention on himself. Reiterate the statement that not doing anything about this is the same as not doing anything about slavery. He is not entirely wrong, as health care would bankrupt our country by 2016 if nothing is done about it as soon as possible. The urgency is there. He should declare that. He should expose the Republican’s plan and the fact that it only covers 2 million uninsured Americans.

That is how the game should be played. But do you think he would do that? No. the reason is that Democrats are dumb! The only Democrat that knows how to fight back is Senator Alan Grayson. A good example is the “rape” bill. That is the most obvious thing for the Democrats to have pounced on, say that the Republicans voted for “rape” while Democrats voted to protect rape victims. Sounds unfair, but that is how the game is played.

Too bad for the Democrats, they do not know how to do it. Anyway, Leader Reid is an ass of a lawmaker anyway. He is way too far left and is not fit to lead a body in the Senate. His loss next year, and I predict that he will, may be devastating to the Democrats, but is inconsequential to the rest of us.

It is now official. Governor Mark Sanford has been hit hard by the South Carolina’s ethics commission. He has been hit with a whopping 37 counts of violating state law ethics. The charges show that this is nothing but a political assassination of Governor Sanford.

Before I carry on, I would declare that I am not a fan of Governor Mark Sanford. I look at him as a typical politician on the right wing side of the aisle. He is part of a typical kind of political dose that is really burning this country up, something which an Independent like me does not like.

However, I do not think he did anything wrong when he had an affair with the Argentinian reporter. It is really not a benchmark of a great leader . Cleopatra slept with many men, yet she is still probably the greatest leader that Egypt ever had. President Clinton was anytime a greater leader than President Bush even though he was a blatant adulterer.

I am also disgusted by the manner that this political assassination is being carried out. In politics, when the tide is good for you, people hang around you like leeches; they want to bask in your glory. When the tide changes, you are dropped like a bowling ball. Right now, the Republicans are trying to distance themselves as far as possible from this guy.

The charges back this. They are charging him for taking a flight to see President’s Obama inauguration using his campaign’s money. Come on! You tell me that they did not know this for several months? You think they did not know that he was flying to political gatherings (I wonder which party’s political gathering did he go to…?) for YEARS? Nobody knew about this? You think nobody knew that he was taking business class international flights? Come on!

And all of a sudden, after his affair became public became public all this information comes out. Suddenly, he has gone from bring Republican governor that was supposed to be challenging President Obama in 2012 to being the Republican Party’s pariah boy. Suddenly, he got from commanding respect to being threatened by his Lieutenant Governor to quit or pay the consequences.

We cannot allow this to happen! What he has done is not comparable to what Governor Rod Blagojevich or Governor Elliot Spitzer has done. They committed crimes, which we hope that nobody knew. Is Governor Sanford’s offense anyhow as serious as these people’s offenses?

I do understand that if I were a prosecutor in charge of this case, I would have no choice but to go after the Governor. But I would also go after each and every person that knew about the Governor doing all this for allowing a crime to happen and not reporting it at the appropriate time. I would follow the book completely.

I do not want our country to be more of a political circus than it already is! We cannot allow one person to punished by the law and the rest escape Scott-free. Enough is enough! We cannot allow a Lieutenant Governor to threaten his boss in the manner Lt. Governor Andre Bauer has. That is outright disgusting!

If people want to start making accusations, they better ensure that they are not breaking the rules or the law themselves! People who live in glass houses should not throw stones!

Let me be straight to the point. I think that today is Black Tuesday for the Democrats. I forecast a clean sweep for the Republicans in the Gubernatorial elections and the Conservative Party to pick up the seat in New York 23rd Congressional district. Here are my views for all of them.

Virginia Gubernatorial Election

Guaranteed a Republican victory, Bob McDonnell to win for sure. The chances that polls are wrong over there is really small. I think that the chances is about the same size as there would be snow in Miami during the Holidays. It is a fat hope scenario.

I have no preference in this. I think neither would be vastly different from the other. I did not endorse anybody. I think that it would be a very difficult to do the job that Senator Mark Warner and his predecessor Governor Tim Kaine has done. I am also not impressed with either candidate, Creigh Deeds nor McDonnell. Lets hope that I am wrong and Bob McDonnell be a governor as good or better than his previous two predecessors.

New Jersey Gubernatorial Elections.

Not so predictable, but I think that Chris Christie would win it in the end. I have two reasons for that. For one, I think that Chris Daggett would steal away more votes from Governor Corzine rather than Christie. That is always the case with the incumbent. Secondly, I am not impressed with the enthusiasm of Governor Corzine’s supporters. That is important, as it casts an impression on the undecided voters.

My preference is for the Independent Chris Daggett. He is an environmental specialist, while one of his opponent is a screw-up incumbent and the other a seasoned crook.Being an Independent myself, I like a person that is committed to American values, and not Liberal or Conservative ones. Many Republicans and Democrats forget that this is the United States of America, not Conservatistan or Libraland. Also, he is the best on the issues by a freaking mile. Had he been given the same chance as the guys from the big two parties, I believe he would have won handily.

New York 23rd congressional district race

Pollsters dare not predict, but I am very confident that Doug Hoffman would win. It is all about the polls. Before Diedre Dede Scozzafava left the race, Bill Owens was in the lead with 36% of the vote, a statistical tie with Dough Hoffman who polled at 35%. 20% would have voted for Scozzafava and 7% were undecided. For Owens to win, and even in the most unlikely scenario he pick up all 7% of the undecided vote, he still needs 35% of Scozzafava supporters to vote for him. I think that that is virtually impossible even though that is the best case scenario for Owens. On top of that, the district is a very Republican district.

In this case, I endorse Owens. I think that the far-right must never have as much say as to who our candidates should be. Hoffmann is a crazy right winger. And the manner that the Governor Palin- led nutty-right revolt against Scozzafava was done, it was really something that I am not comfortable with. Today the Republicans in the primaries, tomorrow, it can be me.

In all, I think that the Democrats would lose all three elections. It would be a good day for the Republicans. But then again, what is new, the Democrats lose all the time. That is what you get for being spineless.

We mentioned it in the last few articles, now hear it from the serpent’s mouth. Former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin would let all her followers on Facebook know what she really feels and the venom that she spits on former Republican challenger Dede Scozzafava.

Here is the quote from her Facebook page : “Unfortunately, the Republican Party today has decided to choose a candidate who more than blurs the lines, and there is no real difference between the Democrat and the Republican in this race. Scozzafava’s backing of the Democrat proves (Governor) Sarah (Palin) was right. Scozzafava isnt a Republican.”

Do you guys what she is saying? Governor Palin does not like the moderate positions of Ms Scozzafava at all. What policies of Ms Scozzafava’s policy does she not like? Financially, she is just about the same as Doug Hoffman. She does not like the socially liberal views of Ms. Scozzafava. She does not like the fact that Ms. Scozzafava is pro choice. She does not like it that Ms. Scozzafava favors gay marriage and that she does not think that homosexuality should be a federal crime.

These are all the things that make her say right now, “Hey I told you so. See, that lady is not a Republicans.” And boom she is out! It is literally tearing apart the big tent that President Reagan set up for the Republican Party. Dissent is no longer allowed.

That is why I am very disturbed. This is literally purging of different ideas. You do not like this list of requirements, you are not part of the Republican Party. I really do not like that. This is what make dictatorships. This is what dictators like Adolf Hitler and Saddam Hussein did. You do not follow this, this, this; you get out of the Republican Party.

If they can do that to people within their own party, how about us? I am an Independent. I am pro choice, would they consider me an enemy of the state? Not a real American? There are already many out there that think that America was built by Republican / Conservative values!

Can you imagine if the left wing did this? I am for our involvement in Afghanistan till the Taliban is eliminated. Can you imagine if the left come up and say that people like me who think differently are enemies of America? Can you imagine if they said that people who think like me are cold blooded murderers because I am for the death penalty? That is why I am so piss off about this right now.

I am really angry that they really do not like it when a Republican back a Democrat. Were they complaining last year when the Independent Senator Joe Liebermann endorsed Senator John McCain? Why can’t they see just Americans rather than Republicans and Democrats?

These crazy Republicans have crossed the line. I am not against all Republicans. I like people like General Colin Powell, Senator Chuck Hagel, Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson etc. I am against the far right nuts that really could drag our country to hell.

Enough is enough! We do not need people to tell us what to think and what not to think! I think it is high time that we start purging them back for a change!

Mark my words: The Republicans would sweep into power in the House and / or Senate by 2014. I guarantee that! You may hear many other “pundits” in the radio, television and the Internet that the Republican Party is going to be a dying brand. I am pitting my words directly against theirs. Here are my reasons.

1)Liberals cannot see the threat that is staring in their faces.

The story of the tortoise and the hare is one that people never seen to forget but, at the same time, never seem to learn from. Yes, the Democrats made huge strides last year. But the fact is that, the reason for their shift in momentum was due to the charisma that President Obama had in 2008 and the economic collapse. The chips was all in their favor; then.

The politically-dim Democrats, however, thought it was because of poisonous characters like Governor Sarah Palin that had been rejected by the populace. To them, the Republican party has fallen. Them, referring to most of the hosts of MSNBC, “strategists” like James Carville and Radio show hosts like Cenk Uyghur of the Young Turks. President Reagan’s big tent may have collapsed, but his winning formula is still around. The biggest reason that the Republican Tortoise is going to cross the line is because the Democratic hare is sleeping.

2)Movement and superior grassroots organization of the right wing.

Examples of right-wing movements are the talk radio shows, FOX News Channel, in the net, and print media that are obviously on the right wing but declare themselves as Independent and unbiased. The liberals have no answer but the wrong answers to check these right-wing movements.

The second is the grassroots organization. Examples of these are Tea Party movements and churches. I find it eerily powerful that Churches have the power to stop a law in California and are now being approached for help to stop health care reform. The Tea Party movement just highlights how bad the management of handling the Tea Party protests were by the Democrats. 75000 protested against President Obama on 9/12, while 80 000 protested less than a month later for gay rights. See the difference in media coverage? Again, that is down to grassroots organization, that the Democrats lack.

3)Right Wing money.

The far right fights for tax cuts for the corporations, the incorporation of flat taxes, privatizing Social Security and Medicare, etc. These are all things that are favorable to the big companies. The only group of companies that are on the usually left leaning are the tech companies.

Whilst the Democrat can count on the loony left wing unions, their base does not have the guaranteed cash flow that the right wing has. In this way, I think that the Republican National Committee would always have more money than the DNC. Money buys airtime, ads and also personal visitations. This also an area that President Obama did very well last year, but the Democrats were not as successful as they should be.

4)Lack of defense for President Obama.

Liberals also do not know how to protect one another. When Van Jones was all but forced to resign over the silliest of issues, no left wingers stood up to defend them. When ACORN is being attacked, they never stood up. Public Option was torn apart and shredded and the Democrats do nothing. With this weakness, the President is left exposed and it would be a matter of when not, if, to disregard his credibility.

Seriously, when would the Liberals learn? Since the Liberals never learn, why aren’t people supporting the Independents? To me that is the biggest mystery.
