Mark Sanford hit

It is now official. Governor Mark Sanford has been hit hard by the South Carolina’s ethics commission. He has been hit with a whopping 37 counts of violating state law ethics. The charges show that this is nothing but a political assassination of Governor Sanford.

Before I carry on, I would declare that I am not a fan of Governor Mark Sanford. I look at him as a typical politician on the right wing side of the aisle. He is part of a typical kind of political dose that is really burning this country up, something which an Independent like me does not like.

However, I do not think he did anything wrong when he had an affair with the Argentinian reporter. It is really not a benchmark of a great leader . Cleopatra slept with many men, yet she is still probably the greatest leader that Egypt ever had. President Clinton was anytime a greater leader than President Bush even though he was a blatant adulterer.

I am also disgusted by the manner that this political assassination is being carried out. In politics, when the tide is good for you, people hang around you like leeches; they want to bask in your glory. When the tide changes, you are dropped like a bowling ball. Right now, the Republicans are trying to distance themselves as far as possible from this guy.

The charges back this. They are charging him for taking a flight to see President’s Obama inauguration using his campaign’s money. Come on! You tell me that they did not know this for several months? You think they did not know that he was flying to political gatherings (I wonder which party’s political gathering did he go to…?) for YEARS? Nobody knew about this? You think nobody knew that he was taking business class international flights? Come on!

And all of a sudden, after his affair became public became public all this information comes out. Suddenly, he has gone from bring Republican governor that was supposed to be challenging President Obama in 2012 to being the Republican Party’s pariah boy. Suddenly, he got from commanding respect to being threatened by his Lieutenant Governor to quit or pay the consequences.

We cannot allow this to happen! What he has done is not comparable to what Governor Rod Blagojevich or Governor Elliot Spitzer has done. They committed crimes, which we hope that nobody knew. Is Governor Sanford’s offense anyhow as serious as these people’s offenses?

I do understand that if I were a prosecutor in charge of this case, I would have no choice but to go after the Governor. But I would also go after each and every person that knew about the Governor doing all this for allowing a crime to happen and not reporting it at the appropriate time. I would follow the book completely.

I do not want our country to be more of a political circus than it already is! We cannot allow one person to punished by the law and the rest escape Scott-free. Enough is enough! We cannot allow a Lieutenant Governor to threaten his boss in the manner Lt. Governor Andre Bauer has. That is outright disgusting!

If people want to start making accusations, they better ensure that they are not breaking the rules or the law themselves! People who live in glass houses should not throw stones!

Back off the “cheaters”

I have taken heat over my defense of Governor Mark Sanford over his affairs. I do understand that female readers would be livid with what I am going to write in this article; but that does not make me a sexist or a chauvinist.

Having come from a prim and proper family, I may not know what it feels like for someone to cheat on you. I have never had that bad experience in my love life either. But that does not mean that I do not understand what the family and the wife go through should the man cheat. It is hell I get it. I get that the man can be scorned by the wife, the kids and to a lesser extent, the society.

However, the one area that I think that promiscuity should have no effect, is in the workplace. A person that is divorced or is a playboy outside the office, should not be discriminated. A person that cheats on his wife should never be viewed as a person that is not able to do their job. That is also true when it comes to public office.

So I am again on the defense when Governor Mark Sanford is basically being threatened by his Lieutenant Governor, Andre Bauer. He is told to quit within the month. I think that that is disgusting. So what if he has cheated on his wife? That is the charge that he should step down with?

Republicans also point out to claims that Governor Sanford took state money for trips. But these are just claims! It is not a straight-forward thing. It is not a 100% certainty. If he is proven guilty, impeach him (if he is still around) and fine him to get back the money. Till then, nobody should have the right to make such threats as Lieutenant Governor did. I am still perplexed that a Lieutenant Governor has the cheek to issue such an ultimatum. I say this even though I am not a fan of Mark Sanford.

The second person that I would like to defend is Senator John Edwards. Liberals have gone berserk over him planning to marry his ugly mistress should his wife lose her battle with cancer. Look, I really like Elizabeth Edwards. I think that she would have made a very goody first lady and a good role model. I also think that Senator Edwards suck at being a Senator and should never be the American President.

But that does not mean that the intentions of Senator Edwards was bad or evil. I really do not see what the big deal is? Is it because he does not want to divorce his angelic wife? Is it because he would have caused trauma to his kids? Even if it were so, it is none of our business!Let them have his head.

It should also not be just for men. I KNOW that women would definitely have a harder time should they have committed adultery. I think that that is wrong too. The lady can sleep with a different man or woman every night for all I care, as long as she is doing her job well.

I think we Americans should really treat competence over values, as of now it is the other way around. Haven’t we learn from the examples of the previous 2 Presidents? President Clinton left with budget surpluses, while President Bush left us with a lot of problems on our plate. I hope that we never have to find out the hard way again, why it is so important to value competence rather than to caste it aside for values.

Palin calls criticisms “bull crap”

Governor Sarah Palin hits back! In an interview with FOX News, she has called her critics “bull crap” attacks on her. She claims that they want to bankrupt her and that they would not stop her from serving her country! No, I am not making it up!

What in the world is she saying? I really do not get her logic. That was what was mentioned earlier in our articles that she does not obey logic at all, but this takes it to another level! Wow! How dim can a person be?

You are stepping out of one of the highest form of government service and then you say that you would not be stopped from serving you country by people that impede you from service. My goodness! Women are confusing to men, this lady can’t be understood by women either.

As we have stated before, if you really think people are slandering you with all sorts of accusations, sue the pants off them. Why worry about legal fees? She claimed that she was being driven into bankruptcy by all the accusations, which is really bothering me right now.

Why is Governor Sarah Palin alone in this? Why isn’t people like Governor Piyush Jindal, President Obama or Secretary Clinton go through this? Politics is always very dirty. If there is some manner that your opponent could take you down, they would use it.

The Republicans were ready to reveal the names of 20 or so women that President Bill Clinton allegedly slept with should then-Senator Clinton win the nomination. Governor Palin herself labeled President Obama as one who palled around with terrorists. The list is actually long. Governor Elliot Spitzer, Governor Mark Sanford, Governor Rod Blagojevich

So what makes Governor Palin so special? What does she have that seems to make her an extra special political target? I really do not know. I think that there is something that Governor Palin had to hide and had to hide quickly. I still think that the her kids not being able to take her spotlight is the biggest reason, but I am now convinced that there is another story.

An you know the best part, she is still very popular with the Republicans! She has the support of 70% of them. That is enough to coast through any Presidential primary. She would be a shoo in! No other Republican politician has approval ratings near her.

I re-warn Democrats and Liberals, they are way under-estimating Governor Sarah Palin. President Obama has to earn their respects once again, Governor Palin does not need to worry about her base. She is unpredictable and is still a formidable opponent. They better respect her or this action could be their Trojan horse.

Sanford under pressure

It is not like I am a huge fan of Governor Sanford. But the amount of pressure he is coming under is intense. And as expected, he is bombarded with calls to resign from upstate Republicans to Democrats in his own state.

Lets see the charges. The first charge sounds the most credible of all: He took taxpayers money and took it to Argentina for pleasure. But didn’t President Obama took two planes to New York for a date night? Didn’t President Bush spend so much vacation time in Texas? How about the time when President Clinton got “blown” by Monica Lewinsky? Who do you think paid for that? Were they impeached or should be impeached for it? I do not think so. We do not even know if he went to Argentina for business or pleasure.

The next charge is that he cheated on his wife. Is that really something that would affect him in his work? I told my boss in ST that he can have a different woman every week, as long as ST makes money and that I get paid well. I bet that it would be the same with you in your workplace.

But that is also the case in politics. Senator McCain does a good job as a Senator and he did meet his second wife while being married to the first. How about Mayor Giuliani, Governor Patterson or President Clinton? Who cares about their private life? There are many Americans that prefer America under President Clinton who cheated rather than President Bush who was “more moral’.

I am really frustrated that about this. Lets go after Governor Sanford for rejecting stimulus money when his state needed to. Lets go after him for his policies. Lets go after him for the hypocrisy that surrounded him when President Clinton cheated on his wife.

But please, do not be pathetic to go after him because he has an Argentinian mistress. That is really nonsensical part of politics. Governor Sanford’s cheating should only affect his family and him. It is really none of our business. It is a great story to read but we should not be pist about it. There are still fans of Jessica Simpson and Jack Nicholson, why can’t we apply the same standards here?

Apparently, he dug his grave further by saying that he had crossed the lines with other women too. He also said that he wants to fall in love with his wife again but maintains that the Argentinian mistress was his soul mate. This has really shut his political career down. Even his strongest ally in Gary Simrill has now asked him to resign.

Look, Governor Sanford could be some “emo” dude that has read too many female-fantasy romance novels or he could be really be a “playa”; neither makes him a bad Governor. I think it is stupid to go after him for his own personal business.

Live and let live. If he broke a law, punish him. Grow up America!

Mark Sanford : Overreaction

Other than Iran, this is one story that has been grabbing headlines today. Yet another politician bites the apple of Eden. Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina joins the list that includes : President Bill Clinton, Senator Larry Craig, Governor Elliot Spitzer, Senator John Ensign

I understand why some media and news agencies tend to go after Republicans more often than they do go after Democrats. Democrats boast less of a family values platform than the Republicans. Hence, there is a moment where some would call hypocrisy being caught or what others may term as gotcha journalism.

This is very true in this case with Governor Sanford. He was a very vocal opponent of President Clinton when he had his ‘tour’ of infidelity. To be fair though, he did not make up any stories about his whereabouts and he was more concerned with the President lying a decade ago. But now I think he can understand why President Clinton cheated then!

I also find it hypocritical of the same Democrats that were protecting Presidential Clinton to be going after Governor Sanford for doing the same thing. Hasn’t been just over a decade ago when they were jumping up and down about this? They seem to have the first symptoms of political “cancer” : short term memory and a thick skin.

America has been through so much as a nation, can’t her citizens just tolerate some vices of one another. We tolerate some of us drinking, smoking or even marijuana; why can we allow people to make human mistakes?

It is not only in America that politicians cheat. France is a great example. After their last elections, President Szarkozy dumped his wife for a supermodel and his main opponent Segone Royal too divorced her husband accusing him of adultery. It happens everywhere. Why is it that Americans are the ones that are more concerned about it than other countries? I find that rather fascinating.

I would be consistent with Governor Sanford as I am with President Clinton. I do not see this as being an issue for him running for President. Though I prefer people like Senator Chuck Hagel on being the Republican Presidential nominee in 2012, I do not think that Governor Sanford should be disqualified from it just because he cheated on his wife?

Isn’t Jack Nicholsen still a great actor even though he has slept with more than 2000 women? Wouldn’t it be a shame that we asked President Obama to resign if he cheated on Michelle? Hell, we would not care if our CEO sleep with a new woman every week as long as he make lots for the company and pay us well!

Another angle of viewing this is that I think that if Governor Sanford was a woman, I do not think that the would have shown any mercy at all (not that they are showing him a lot right now). That also reflects a lot on the kind of society that we live in do we?

I am also hoping to get a hopeless romantic version of this. I can bet with my readers right now that down the road there would be a movie made on this. It is amazing that there are still people that actually believes in fairy tales and all those romantic novels!

Lets give Governor Sanford a break man. Let his wife eat him alive with her nagging! Live and let live. Please let us concentrate on the politics.
