The United States House of Representatives on Wednesday overpoweringly declined a measure calling for President Barack Obama to withdraw U.S. armed forces from Afghanistan, in an election-year test of his choice to step up the war.
However many of Obama’s Democrats among the House did endorse the pullout solution, suggesting separation over war policy before November congressional elections in which Republicans are anticipated to attain gains.
65 lawmakers, the majority of them Democrats, voted for the pullout resolution written by liberal Democratic Representative Dennis Kucinich, despite the fact that 356 voted against.
